Prayers for Encouragement

Hello all!

I wanted to ask you guys for your prayers this week. As some of you may know, I applied to graduate school at Mid-America Nazarene University for their counseling program. A few days after I applied I was contacted for an interview. (Phew...passed the first cut!) My interview is next Monday the 28th. I'm am very excited and nervous all at the same time. If you have the time, please keep me (and Jonathan-as he's just a much a part of this decision as I am) in your prayers this week and especially next Monday if you would be so kind.

Here are some specifics you could pray for:
-calm nerves :)
-ability to commuinicate my heart clearly to the directors of the program.
-patience after the interview while I wait to hear if I was accepted.
-for the ability to rest in perfect peace that God's plan is divine and his timing is always perfect.

I will keep you all updated. As for now I thought I would leave you with a little snip-it of the essay I wrote for my application. It's basically just the last paragraph, but I think it sums up why I want to do this "whole grad school" thing perfectly.


"All my experiences up to this point have led me to where I am today. Christ instructs us to answer to a calling which he has placed in our hearts to follow. I Corinthians 12:4 says, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” Post-graduation I found myself in a whirlwind of life changes and emotions. All I knew to do was pray for God to reveal his calling for me. And day after day I found myself with a tug and passion in my heart for the school children in America.
I don’t want to simply make a difference in children’s lives; I want to be the difference. I’ve experienced failure, I know what it feels like and I know how hard it can be to overcome. I want to take that experience and channel it for the greater good of others so that they too may overcome obstacles, just as I did."

I LOVE that verse because it always helps to remind me that EVERY act of service/job is equally important to God. It doesn't matter if you're a doctor or a trash man, a lawyer or a stay at home mom. Everyone has different gifts they've been given by Christ and while the world has placed a stigma on those labels and titles, it doesn't matter to God. Isn't that encouraging? It is to me. I hope and pray you have found his calling for your life.
