God Gave Me You

If I were stranded on a desert island I would take a few things with me. My husband, a fishing pole, my bible, and two CD's. What two CD's you ask? Well that's simple Dave Barnes and Phil Wickham. Some of you may already know, I love these artists! I discovered their talent while I was in college (maybe that's why I love them so much, who knows). First I found Dave Barnes through my roommate, Danielle Pape. Jonathan and I had only been dating for a few months and we listened to his music all the time together. I love how music can ignite such special memories in your brain. Listening to Dave NEVER gets old. I love his music so much that we danced our "first dance" as a married couple to Dave Barnes, " I have and I always will". And at our wedding we had Phil Wickham's "Divine Romance" sung by Emmy Lutz. I wish I had a way of posting the video because she did an amazing job.

I recently heard Dave's newest single why visiting Phil at Kamp. Needless to say Dave did it again! Another amazing song. Enjoy the video!

Happy Birthday, Jonny!

Today is my sweet husband's birthday! What a wonderful day! 24 years ago today he was born. His parents actually thought he was going to be a girl (back before technology could detect a fetus' gender). So they had planned to name him Karen. Hillarious, I know. Thus he was nameless for a few days while his parents tried to decide what to name him. I think Jonathan was an excellent choice and I'm sure glad he wasn't a girl. ;)

We were planning on going to Dave and JoJo's lake property up north but the weather has been anything but fitting for such an activity. :( This makes me sad because I know how much Jonny LOVES going to the lake and wakeboarding/skiing. They actually shut down the lake to everyone because the water is so high, so it must be pretty bad. However, he is doing another activity he loves (no not hanging out with me...) Hanging with his older brother Isaac playing disc golf.

Tonight we are having all the family and my parents over for dinner. We are going to grill. YUM! Shout out to Uncle Tommy and Aunt Lisa for our awesome grill! We use it all the time! (It's a great excuse for me to catch a break from cooking and have Jonny make dinner!) :)

Happy Birthday JONNY!!!

*~*GASP~*~ OPIE'S!!!

So here's the deal. My Great grandfather started a dairy hauling business back in the early 19somethings. Long story short, my Uncle now owns the company and has turned it into a very successful family business. They don't haul dairy as much anymore due to new laws regarding the regulation and processing of dairy-so they haul things like corn syrup and other liquids, all over the country. Which leads me to Opie's truck sitings. It's quite an exciting thing. You see you could see them anywhere...and all the sudden...*~*~ GASP~*~*~THERE'S AN OPIE'S TRUCK!!!! I typically get in trouble for getting so excited and scaring the bajeezies out of Jonny, but its totally worth it. I've honked at the trucks, rolled down the window and literally hung out the window waving like a crazy person...there's no telling what I'll do when I spot one of these SUPER shiny beauts but one thing is for sure...it's fun. My sister's brother in law (yea you do that math) :) see's them often in Dallas with the company he works for and sent us some pics! Now I can look at them whenever I want. :)

Where did the time go?!

It's really crazy to think that one year ago I (along with my wonderful fiance, at the time) graduated from Baylor University! What a wonderful time in our lives. Baylor is one of those places you will NEVER understand until you've been there and experienced the "bubble" for yourself. I am so grateful that I was able to share my college experience of Baylor with my husband. Not only my husband but the many amazing friends I made while I was there. These are people that weren't just "friends" they became my family for four years. Living so far away from our real home, these people became our family. Which is probably why it was, and still is really hard to be so far away from them.
Jonathan and me on our Graduation day. Don't worry my family was just thankful I graduated while his family was glad he graduated sum cum laude or however you spell that foreign word that means you're super smart. :) I'm so proud of him...he earned EVERY A. (seriously.)

We are so excited to have the opportunity to go to Dallas this weekend for my best friend, Becky's wedding shower. (There will be many more of these trips to come as several of our friends are getting married this year!)
I will always hold tight to this quote by Tom Petty that my sister framed for me as a high school graduationg present, as I was about to embark on one of the most exciting times of my life. While I'm not in college anymore I still refer to this quote to remember all the crazy and fun things I did while at Baylor.

"You have four years to be irresponsible here. RELAX. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due on Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink til' sunrise. The work never ends, but college does.
Jonny with his friends at Beaver lake for his Bachelor party. I don't even want to know. ;)

Hallmark commercials...They'll getcha everytime!

So, I was watching TV yesterday afternoon after dropping Caleb off and a hallkmark commercial came on. I have to admit I've lost interest in their commercials since my Dad stopped working there, but this one made me cry instantly! And I'm sure most of you know why....Let's just say my sister's name is Jenny. I mean really...REALLY HALLMARK?! WHY?!

The worst part is...after the commercial was over, I grabbed the remote (yup you guessed it) I pressed the rewind button. :'/

Bye-Bye Bladder!

So, for those of you who don't know. I've been having trouble with my stomach since October. I think I've endured every test known to man-kind. Finally they found that my Gall bladder isn't functioning properly. While it stinks, we're just glad we finally figured out what is causing me so much pain! I will be having it removed next Thursday. They procedure is laproscopic, meaning the make two tiny insisions and remove it with a lazer. I would give you the details, but I'll spare you. ;)

Anywho, I'm pretty nervous, just because the complications post-surgery range from awesomeness to severe nausea etc. Let's be praying for awesomeness, yes?! I find the gall bladder quite confusing. You don't need it to survive, but it does help break down fat and bile to process food through your system. My pray is that my body will figure out how to function without it in the least amount of pain possible.
To help you gain a better understanding of gall bladder anatomy (because i know you'll google it after anyways...) ;) here's a pic to help you out. Don't worry when I googled it, I almost threw up while looking at all the other gall bladder pictures. Gross.

Prayers are appreciated! :/

6 Months and Counting... :)

Wow! I can't believe that today marks the day that I have been married to my best friend for SIX MONTHS! That's half a year! I know to all you pro's out there... (holla out to my parents, married for 30 years, The Crabtree's married for 35 years) 6 months is nothing. But, we think it's pretty awesome! :) We feel so blessed to have such incredible parents to exemplify Godly and loving marriages!
This morning I woke up to my husband (and precious dog) at my bedside, with breakfast! I LOVE breakfast in bed, it's one of my favorite things! It's crazy to think all that has happened just in 6 months, the good and the bad! We've gotten to travel, became an Aunt and Uncle, gotten a dog, learned how to be homeowners, and so much more! Here are some pics from our first 6 months of marriage that I love.
Jonny and I on our honeymoon in St. Lucia. We miss that place everyday and can't wait to go back again. What a magical place!
Our first Christmas together as a married couple!
New Years Eve in St. Louis! What a great trip to just get-a-way! We had such a great time, St. Louis is an incredible city!

The birth of our first nephew, Caleb Xavier!

Trip to Florida for Jonathan's job.

In Houston for the sweet sixteen and elite eight! Sic'em Bears!

Dave Matthews came out with a new single right around the time that we got married, and everytime I hear it, as cheesy as it sounds, I feel on top of the world. Everyday I thank the Lord for my amazing husband. Marriage truely is one of God's greatest gifts. I love spending everyday with my best friend!

"You and Me" By Dave Matthews Band

"We can always look back at what we did

All these memories of you and me baby

But, right now it's you and me forever

And you know we could do better than anything we did

You know that you and me, we could do anything

You and me together, we could do anything baby,

you and me together, yea, yea"
